Controllers are responsible for ensuring that the appropriate amounts of officers, firefighters and medics are at the appropriate calls. They are also responsible for ensuring that on scenes where officers may need a bit of guidance, there are the appropriate supervisors who can liaise with the other service’s supervisors. They act as a go-to point between all 3 services to support them, and ensure the appropriate message gets to the appropriate place. This can be by communicating with officers on the ground, or getting in contact with the National Police Air Service, who will be up in the air giving a perspective that the officers on the ground can’t see.
